The past several years have seen the formation of a set of standardized washout requirements. These requirements were formed by the JPA (Juice Products Association) with the assistance of most of the major food manufacturers. Through testing as well as practical application these standards have proven to be the most effective at properly sanitizing foodgrade tanks. For a complete list of these requirements as well as a more detailed description of the following services you can visit the JPA website.
TYPE I WASHOUT - This type of washout consists of a rinse and is only suitable for a small percentage of our customers. Because it does not involve any sanitizing steps we do not guarantee this type of washout.
TYPE II WASHOUT - This type of washout consists of a prerinse, followed by a 160° caustic cycle, and finishing with a cool down sanitizing rinse.
TYPE III/IV WASHOUT - Type III and Type IV washouts are now the same type of washout. They consist of a prerinse, 160° degreasing cycle, 160° caustic cycle, and a cool down sanitizing rinse.
TYPE V WASHOUT - This is the newest addition to the JPA washouts. It was formed with input from the JPA, major manufacturers and the Rabbinical Counsel. It is a standardized washout that meets the majority of kosher requirements. It consists of a prerinse, 160° degreasing cycle, 160° caustic cycle, 208° potable water cycle, and a cool down sanitizing rinse.
KOSHER MAINTENANCE - This type of washout is either Type II, III, or IV. It is used to clean a tank that has hauled a kosher product and whose next load is also a kosher product. The primary difference in this type of washout is that the prerinse is performed using fresh potable water rather then using the final sanitizing rinse from the previous tank.
KOSHER UPGRADE - This type of washout is performed on tanks that have hauled non kosher products and need to be cleaned before hauling a kosher load. It consists of a potable water prerinse, 208° potable water cycle, 160° caustic cycle, a second 208° potable water cycle, and a cool down sanitizing rinse.
PASSIVATION - This type of washout is primarily used for cleaning and chemically treating the surface of tank interiors prior to putting them into service. Often this service is provided by the tank manufacturer. In the cases where it is not we offer this service which consists of the following. A Type IV washout, followed by a citric acid cycle at 160°, followed by a Type II washout. While originally intended for new tanks this type of washout can also be useful in restoring discolored tanks.
Miscellaneous - In addition to the above, we also offer cleaning of your hoses, pumps, and HEPA filtered drying.
